DESCRIPTION
Global Shutter - A First for MirrorlessThe Sony Alpha a9 III Mirrorless Digital Camera Body has laid claim to delivering the world's first full-frame global shutter mirrorless camera providing a leap in performance as opposed to the rolling shutter used for the past decades. A near instantaneous and simultaneous readout of the entire 24.6MP is provided by the global shutter, this eliminates skew and other artefacts that plagued rolling shutters. Consistent and uniform exposure is provided in any lighting condition across the entire frame with the global shutter. You will also be offered Flash Sync at any shutter speed, even to the maximum of 1/80,000 second. Banding from some artificial light sources such as fluorescent lighting is prevented due to the continuous readout provided by the global shutter.
Pre-Capture and Speed Boost - Never Miss a MomentFurther building on the outstanding performance delivered by the sensor, the Sony A 9 III camera offers new features unlocking the camera's full potential. These include:
- Pre-Capture: Images can be recorded to the buffer when the shutter button is half-pressed. This can be set to 0.05-1.0, and then upon pressing the shutter images are recorded to the memory card.
- Speed Boost: Not every situation requires the maximum speed of the Sony Alpha a9 III Mirrorless Digital Camera Body, but this is easily accessible. Simply with Speed Boost and the C5 button, users can instantly switch from usual continuous shooting to the maximum ensuring the next shot is just right. You will be able to select your desired frame rate up to 120 fps.
Video performance is greatly benefitted by the use of the global shutter (where rolling shutter and banding artifacts are completely eliminated). Furthermore, the Sony Alpha a9 III Mirrorless Digital Camera Body is further complemented by other video improvements over the predecessor. It captures and downsamples the full 6K image area to produce high-quality UHD 4K video up to 60 fps. It can also record 4K up to 120 fps with no crop. It records 10-bit 4:2:2 internally and the Sony A9III uses All-I encoding for the maximum quality. To accommodate an external recorder 16-bit raw output is provided via the full-size HDMI port. S-Log3, S-Cinetone, and other Picture Profiles are available for optimizing the image for your workflow and production environment.
Refined Body DesignThe Sony Alpha a9 III Mirrorless Digital Camera introduces a new generation of the Alpha series camera, with some tweaks and modifications to the design, to make the operation more ergonomic. These include the addition of the C5 button to the front of the camera body. The continuous shooting mode dial can be disabled along with the ability to change the shooting speed in the menu. You will find an enhanced grip on the Sony Alpha A9 3 along with the shutter button that has been moved slightly for an ergonomic experience. To take full advantage of the increased speed, you will find dual CFexpress Type A and SD card slots which also increase versatility allowing you to use existing media. The USB-C port now offers faster USB 3.2 Gen 2 speeds of up to 10 Gb/s. To enhance networking and data transfers The Sony Alpha a9 III Mirrorless Digital Camera features a 3.2" 2.1m-dot 4-axis multi-angle touchscreen LCD. This screen has a wide colour gamut covering the DCI-P3 space. 9.44m-dot 0.90x OLED electronic viewfinder with a maximum refresh rate of 240 fps. The a9 III benefits from maximum quality viewing at up to 120 fps.
