DESCRIPTION

Adding the Sony FE 400-800mm f/6.3-8 G OSS Lens to the G-Series, the lines between the G-Series and GM-Series continue to blur, where Sony offers exceptional quality at reduced costs. Featuring internal zoom for improved functionality along with the employment of dual linear motors, you will enjoy the benefits of smooth, quick AF performance.

Unprecedented Range

The Sony FE 400-800mm f/6.3-8 G OSS Lens is the first Alpha zoom lens reaching 800mm and still offers full compatibility with both the 1.4x and 2x teleconverters extending the reach to respectively 1120mm to 1600mm. This makes this lens an elite choice for birding and wildlife as you will be able to keep a safe distance from the subject.

Prioritising Functionality and Usability

This lens features a short rotational throw making it easy to make swift focal adjustments while capturing. In front you will be able to add screw in 105mm filters, enabling you to work in various lighting conditions.
Multiple function switches are built into the lens barrel that allow you to make rapid settings adjustments, including a switch for AF/MF, OSS, and focus limiting.

Cutting-Edge Optical Design

The Sony FE 400-800mm f/6.3-8 G OSS Lens features six ED lens elements that significantly reduce flare and ghosting in backlit conditions and help control chromatic aberrations in images.
The optical configuration is complex in a configuration of 27 elements in 19 groups allowing the rens to reproduce fine details and create high contrast images.
When capturing with a narrow depth of field, the 11-blade diaphragm produces rich and smooth bokeh. This ensures effective subject isolation and blurred background.

Built to Last

A robust lens hood with a built-in lock button not only reduces flare and ghosting when shooting in bright sunlight, but it also adds protection to the front lens element. You will also find a filter opening, for easy filter adjustment.
The front lens element has a Fluorine Coating applied to repel water and oil. This also makes the lens element easier to clean.
The entire lens and barrel feature a dust and moisture-resistant design. All the above assist in maximising reliability in the field, regardless of the weather conditions.
