Packed into the Sony a7S III Mirrorless Camera is a pretty small 12.1MP Full-Frame Exmor R CMOS Sensor that utilises a back side illuminated design, bringing twice the readout speed of a conventional sensor. Regardless of the small size image sensor, it still produces quality images, and lets not forget, superb video quality that definitely sets new standards as you can record Full HD @ 240 fps, 4K video @ 120 fps in 4:2:2 10-bit and 4K video @ 120 fps in RAW over HDMI. Capturing stills is not a problem as it still delivers sharpness, clear images, vibrant images and it performs well in low-light conditions.

The high speed BIONZ-XR image processing engine adaptively uses the image sensor data to produce greater detail by actively reducing image noise at high ISOs, and diffraction at smaller apertures. Being 8x faster than the BIONZ X certainly ensures the best of quality at all times.

Something that all filmmakers seek is high-quality video recording, and the Sony a7S III certainly ticks those boxes. The camera allows you to record 4:2:2: 10-bit colour in all resolutions and frame rates - meaning smoother colour gradients and it also allows you to push its colour grade much more. It also incorporates a variety of file formats to record in and also features a new file format, which is the XAVC HS 4K format which is an HEVC/H.265 codec that provides you with a lower bit-rate with the same quality

This will enable users to shoot sharp pictures/video in low light and other less than ideal conditions.

Incorporated on the rear of the camera is a large 3.0" 1.44m-dot Vari-Angle Articulating Touchscreen, being the first of the a7-series of cameras. The flip-out screen is ideal for both high and low angles and also features a front-facing position which is perfect for vlogging. Being fully touchscreen, allowing a full touch menu navigation.

The Sony a7S III now features a dual memory card slot thats capable of reading a UHS-II card and CFexpress Type A with each slot capable of reading either SD or CFexpress Type A memory cards.

The Sony a7S III Mirrorless Camera is powered up by the high-capacity NP-FZ100 rechargeable lithium-ion battery, letting you capture approx. 510 shots/80 minutes if recording per charge when utilising the viewfinder or get out a bit more when using the rear LCD screen with 600 shots and 95 minutes of recording per charge.
